We're Expecting

8/2012

Typically, right after two people get married, they begin to get all kinds of hints and nudges regarding their next big step.  Like a good forward-thinking couple, we had already discussed it between ourselves.  We weren’t about to embark on this next milestone without assessing our present level of stability, without realistically evaluating the time commitment, without considering the risks.  Would it need tons of attention?  Would it keep us up all night?  Would it take the fun out of doing what we do?  Would it fail to thrive, would it grow and flourish?

Despite all the deliberation, we both somehow knew that deep down it was our calling, and since we actually got married, then there couldn’t be a better time to start.  So without further adieu, we have great news to announce: we’re having a blog!

We met about four years ago at a blogger dinner at a new restaurant in the fine neighborhood of WeHo.  This is not where we hit it off, but there is picture evidence.

Definitely not where we hit it off.  Anyway, the point is that this blog is not going to be a food blog, despite the fact that we both have a history of foodblogging.  This isn’t going to be a photo blog or a travel blog or a DIY blog.  It’s just going to be an open space where we get to dump our memories before they disappear.  We don’t mean to glamourize our morning coffee or mabo tofu, nor do we intend to obligate anyone to actually enjoying our ramblings and sick puns.  But it’s going to be a great way to get inside of Marilyn's half-frazzled head (and to ensure that Wes’s photos do not drown in a sea of un-deciphered megabytes) and it’s going to give us such a kick to look back upon its contents as 80-year-olds—hopefully as 80-year-olds who are still married to each other.

So, to our 80-year-old selves, here is something to marvel at.  Who knows what a Go-Pro can accomplish in 2067, but in 2015, it was good enough for us to capture this rare moment, when every face that we love and cherish could be simultaneously captured in one twelve-megapixel fisheye lens.  Well, we’re missing exactly 12 of the most important faces, but we do have their feet.  So, about a hundred loving smiles and 12 loving feet.  To all of you, thank you for being our supporters and for being the reasons why we have met each other and fallen in love.   We hope that you enjoy watching our blog grow; we will try to be good parents to this one.
